Parents can play a key role in helping their child become more physically active. If your child isn’t as active as you’d like them to be, there are a variety of way you can motivate them to be more physically engaged every day. Here are some suggestions.

1. Train your Little One to storytell

It is not healthy when your Little One hides their feelings. Train them to be more confident and start storytelling sessions by mum and dad! End it with your Little One’s turn to talk about toys, or whatever he saw that day.  

2. Train your Little One to decorate 

Get your little ones to decorate your pots in the garden by providing them pens and stickers. This will get their creative juices working at a very young age.

3. Educate them to be independent

Ease your role as a mother by preparing your little ones to be independent. Start by teaching them to make their own bed as soon as they wake up.

4. Cook with your Little Ones

To attract your little ones and distract them from gadgets, invite them to cook with you. Start by introducing them to ingredients in the kitchen and chat with them so they will feel the fun.

5. Run together

Allow your little ones to run free around your home, whether it’s an open space or your garden! They will enjoy the freedom and activeness even more when they’re healthy. 

6. Let’s play music!

Expose your little one to music to help their emotional, communication and mental and physical development, Mums and dads, choose an interesting song that they will be able to follow!

7. Let’s tidy up & arrange together!

When your little one is playing, why don’t we train them to pack their own toys? All parents need to do is to prepare a container for them to learn to store, and do it together. 

8. Let’s tidy up the house!

After meals, lift the dishes to the washing basin,wipe the table and tidy up the cups…Teach your little ones to do simple house chores as early as possible and don’t forget to give small rewards or praise them.

9. Camping indoors!

Reclaim the joy of building a tent from our childhood with comforters, pillows and the like. After that, lay down as a family and start talking or sharing travelers’ tales!

10. Car Wash Fun!

Teach Little Ones about cleanliness from an early age and at the same time teach them how to wash a car. Car wash is a perfect way to get kids engaged in an activity while enjoying natural play with water. Not only can this strengthen the family bond, but the car gets to be clean too!

11. Time to fly high with kites!

This game blends both indoor and outdoor play by teaming up with your Little One to make their own kite before going out to watch it fly. This practise also teaches Little One to care about the weather while they learn to spot the right conditions for kitesurfing! It’s simple, use old crafting items and then it’s time for Papa to teach Little One how to fly it!

12. Let’s Redecorate our Rooms!

In order to encourage your little ones to be independent and to sleep in their own rooms we should start by letting them decorate their own rooms. Mums and Dads could help paint the rooms, hang nice decorations on the walls and perhaps changing the bed sheets. Ensure that your little ones has a say in it. This will give your little ones a sense of responsibility, pride and ownership for their belongings.

13. Let’s play 5 stones!

5 stones is one of Malaysia’s traditional games that must be reignited by our little ones! It is time for mums and dads to show your little ones how to play this game! It is a great game for your little ones to practice counting numbers too!

14. Let’s play with skipping ropes!

A healthy and easy activity for the family! Drop by your nearest fitness store and purchase a skipping rope to play with your little ones! This activity is fun and it encourages a healthy lifestyle!

15. Let’s play badminton together! 

Your little ones should get involved in a sport that improves their focus and builds their physical strength and badminton can do just that! It is an easy sport for your little ones to learn!

16. Let’s play hopscotch!

This traditional game must be taught to the younger generation, so it may continue it’s legacy! This is a task for mums and dads to keep this tradition! It’s an easy game to learn, all you need is some space to play!

17. Let’s practice sanitation!

Sanitising is a new norm that your littles ones must learn to practice. Your little ones can start with sanitising their toys every time they are done playing with them especially if the toys were brought outside of the house. Cleanliness now is more important than ever! Keep this practice and stay safe!
